INTRODUCTION Palm oil milling is basically the processing of oil palm Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFBs) into crude palm oil and palm kernel. The by-products or wastes are in the forms of Empty Fruit Bunches (EFBs), mesocarp fibers, shells, Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) and boiler ash. The most voluminous and ecologically unfriendly is POME (Saifudin and Fazlili, 2009).
